Full-bodied and hand-made by Artisan pie producers ‘Hearty Pies’. Using Wild & Rooted grass-fed beef and Essex ale.

Serves 1 (or 2 with vegetables on the side)

Ingredients: Wild & Rooted Beef (45%), Beer (32%), Barley Stock (Celery), Tomato Puree, Carrot, Onion, Mushroom, Mustard, Worcester Sauce (Fish Anchovies) Garlic Puree (Sulphites), Ketchup, Redcurrant Jelly, Pepper, Thyme, Wheat Flour, Butter (Milk), Egg wash. Made in a kitchen that handles nuts.

Cooking guide

Ensure this product is thoroughly defrosted before cooking. Once defrosted we strongly recommend baking within 24 hours for best quality. This product must not be refrozen. Pre-heat your oven to 220°C or 200°C for fan-assisted ovens. Place on a baking tray in the middle of the oven for 35 minutes. Ensure the pie is cooked through and hot before serving.

Please note

This product is frozen and, if you opt for overnight delivery, there is a high chance it will defrost whilst on it’s way to you. Ensure this product is thoroughly defrosted before cooking. We strongly recommend baking within 24 hours for best quality. This product must not be refrozen.

Our beef is pasture-fed without exception and sustainably produced here on the farm in Great Waltham, Chelmsford. The cattle feed on herb rich pastures grazed in a way that benefits our soil ecosystems and feeds our local wildlife. The cattle are bred and born on the farm, raised to maturity and dry-aged for the most delicious beef. Thank you for supporting small-scale farming that’s good for the cattle, the consumer and the environment.


Hearty Pies are a small family producer located in Clacton-on-Sea, North Essex. Their pies are hand-made in small batches with locally sourced fillings and their own all-butter pastry. No additives. no nonsense – just proper rustic stuff.
