From the farm
Our thoughts on Veganuary
Veganuary, Regenuary or just January?
Weβve been shortlisted
Weβve been shortlisted in this yearβs Essex Life Food and Drink awards π
The doβs and donβts of cooking a KellyBronze
Work with us
Weβre in the exciting position of looking for an Assistant Farm Manager to help Sam on the farm.
Great Taste Awards
The results are in for this yearβs Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards. Weβre over the moon to announce that Wild and Rooted came away with four stars this year ββββ
Rotational grazing
Itβs how we graze the recently converted herb-rich pastures here on the farm and itβs a natural way of replenishing soil ecosystems.
Pasture for Life
The Pasture-Fed Livestock Association works hard to promote the benefits of produce raised exclusively on pasture and the benefits for the wider environment.
Why we chose a herbal ley
Herbal leys are temporary grasslands made up of legume, herb and grass species. Compared to a standard grass field the wide variety of plant species in a herbal ley have stacks of benefits for the cattle and the environment.
Weβve only had eyes for Aberdeen Angus since 2007
A wonderfully natured native breed with exceptional mothering qualities and delicious tasting beef.

The Squiers and Humphreys Farm

A small but mighty team
The Squier family are just a few of the many people who are vital to caring for the animals and running the farm.
Beckyβs Butchers
Our animals are butchered locally in Colchester, Essex by Beckyβs Butchers.
KellyBronze β Bred to be wild
Weβve reared turkeys on the farm here for over 30 years and the KellyBronze has become the turkey we compare all turkeys to.
Seasoned turkey farmers
Sam is a third generation turkey farmer and has grown up around some of the most seasoned of turkey farmers β itβs safe to say rearing turkeys is second nature to us.
